World's Finest # 104, September, 1959

Ah, this one just screams early Silver Age goodness from its Swan/Kaye cover to its Sprang/Moldoff last panel. Batwoman! Luthor! Giant props!

World's Finest # 103, August, 1959

A less memorably cover and stories all around this time. The main story features a "sorcerer" who is, in fact, using scientific space gadgets until Supes tossing 'em back.

Disnelyland and guns. Yeah, they go together, don't they?

Another dragon. It's a theme issue!

World's Finest # 102, June, 1959

Another well-remembered issue as the WF team does battle with a character who--at least in the story if not on the cover--at times resembles Joe Kubert's Tor. The caveman from Krypton doesn't mean any harm but gives our heroes a real run for their money before succumbing to a fatal radiation posioning to give us a tragic ending.

Oddly enough, we just mentioned Tommy Tomorrow yesterday when discussing Lee Elias. And now here's Tommy but by the artist even more associated with him--Jim Mooney.

World's Finest # 101, May, 1959

A few issues back we picked up the little warning paragraph at the bottom of the splash panel about not reselling the comics cheaper or in packs or in advertising. This was apparently a major, major issue as this month the warning moves to a more prominent location at the top of the page. I know many of my earliest comics were bought in coverless 3-packs.

Mad scientist gets the heroes blamed for mischief with illusions. They figure out what he's doing and use illusions to capture him and his men.

Rip Hunter got a good solid shot in his own mag but still ended up an also-ran. He was, however, essential when it came to screwing with DC continuity from CRISIS on.
