World's Finest # 123, February, 1962

The first team-up of Myxy and Bat-Mite must have been popular because here we go again. The cover is still by Dillin and Moldoff but Sprnag is back on the interiors which moves Mooney back to TOMMY.

Although this is the second issue at twelve cents, DC sacrificed a full page ad for a piece explaining the economics of the change to kids. 

Lots of wacky monsters pop up but in the end things get out of hand and the two tricksters have to team up to defeat the last one.

By this point in the Silver Age, it was a little odd to have some of these features on this ad but it's such a cool ad, isn't it?

World's Finest # 122, December, 1961

More aliens. It was that kind of an era. This time, Batman and Robin attempt to use kryptonite (or, as the cover misstates, "krypton") to capture Superman for aliens who believe him to be guilty of horrible crimes. For no apparent reason other than it's green, we get a giant Green Arrow statue. Eventually, the real culprit is shown to have been an alien disguised as Superman.

After months of promoting the ten cent price, here we see a SUPERBOY ad touting a "super-BUY" but with it's price point whited out! Note that the actual cover (below) like this issue of WORLD'S FINEST itself, is now twelve cents.

Wonder how come we never saw that giant Green Arrow statue in any actual Green Arrow stories. 

World's Finest # 121, November, 1961

This issue's new cover artist is Pablo Picasso…err…I mean Dick Dillin, with Moldoff still on the inks.

Batman falls through  mirror, returns without his memory, looking goofy and causing havoc with crazy new powers (this time different than Superman's!)

Supes and the Boy Wonder manage to go into the mirror, too, where they discover aliens and such that are defeated.

On their return to Earth, the mirror is destroyed for good.

World's Finest # 120, September, 1961

Here's an oddity. We have here almost an all-Jim Mooney issue. Mooney had drawn the Robin feature in STAR SPANGLED for ages and the occasional BATMAN story as well. Not sure if he had ever drawn a solo SUPERMAN at this point. The story is written by one Jerry Coleman, forgotten today but a  pretty good SUPERMAN writer in his day. Basically, crooks are using these ancient alien pseudo-life forms to drain Supes' powers one by one until he finds the way to stop them.
